A few materials show up in recipe after recipe, and Anima-Infused Bark is one of them. On its own it is a basic item, but it feeds Wild Anima and the mid-game magic gear line.

The basics

In-game descriptionTree bark infused with magical energy

The official wiki records one change worth knowing: patch 0.8.0 (17 June 2025) raised the stack limit from 50 to 99, and set the weight from 0 to 2.0 kg. It now takes up carry weight, so watch your bag while gathering.

Where to find it, and what it gives

  • Location: on the ground around anima trees and some crystal trees in the Fractured Plains biome.
  • How: walk up and pick it up. No tool needed.
  • XP: 7 Woodcutting XP per piece.
  • Respawn: 72 minutes.

That 72-minute timer matters. Camping one spot is a waste of time. Walk a loop past the tree clusters, clear the area, then move on.

What it is used for

Two things fall out of that table. Bark is a shared part of the magic gear line, used by staves, the Crystal Bow and imbued leather. And it keeps showing up alongside Vault materials, which is why mid-game time goes mostly into gathering those two families.

What Wild Anima is

The official wiki describes the bark as refining into Wild Anima, a magical crafting component popular with spellcasters. The recipe is short: 4 bark at a kiln.

So if you are building magic gear, doing Wild Anima first and then working up to finished items is the standard route.

The Vault materials

Vault Shard and Vault Core appear again and again in those recipes. The Crystal Bow alone wants 8 Vault Shards and 1 Vault Core, which makes them the other mid-game bottleneck.

This page only places them inside the recipes. Their own spawn points and acquisition methods have separate entries on the official wiki, which is the better source for those.

Beyond gathering

  • Reward packs: Ghornfell Gold (1 to 4, 1 in 5) and Ghornfell Silver (1 to 3, 1 in 5).
  • Vendor: Domri - The Merchant sells it for 18 Garou Chit.

So if you need bark now and do not want to wait out the respawn, Garou Chits are the shortcut.

Planning a gathering route

  1. Sweep a whole cluster, do not wait on a single spawn point.
  2. Empty your bag first. At 2.0 kg and a 99 stack, a full load is nearly 200 weight.
  3. Kill Garou while you are there. Garou Chits buy both bark and mount variants.
  4. Bring your gathering tools. The Fractured Plains has other resources along the way.

Limits

  • The tables come from the official wiki’s Anima-Infused Bark entry. Jagex has not listed these recipes in its own announcements.
  • Drop rates are only quoted where the official wiki gives them, for the reward packs. The rest are unpublished.
  • Vault material acquisition is not covered in depth here. Use the official wiki entries.
